About

We are an assembly of illustration agencies working together to diversify our industry.

Founded in 2020, Agents for Change was set as a way to allow us to use our collective power to address the lack of diversity within the illustration industry and improve the pathways to creative careers.

Through our own surveys and wider industry data, we know there is still a lot of work to be done to make the creative industries truly inclusive and accessible for all. In particular, we want to see a greater number of people from typically underrepresented communities thrive in our industry.

What We Do

1-2-1 Support for Artists
By hosting free online and in-person portfolio reviews, we give artists the opportunity to receive tailored advice and feedback from illustration experts.

Demystifying the Industry
With the help of world-class artists and industry experts, we've built up a wealth of online resources which shed light on what it's really like to work as a professional illustrator.

Industry Collaboration
Every six months, our agency members meet to discuss future plans and hold each other to account, using our position within the industry to help break down barriers.

Who We Support

To work towards a more inclusive and diverse industry, we specifically aim our work towards people belonging to groups which are typically underrepresented. These include:

• People of colour (Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic community)
• Those identifying as LGBTQ+
• People living with a learning disability
• People living with a disability
• Refugees or asylum seekers
• People without a university education
• Those from lower socio-economic backgrounds
• Young parents or carers
  
  

Our Members

When joining Agents for Change, each of our agency members pledges to:

• Make diversity a priority within their roster of artists
• Take part in our bi-annual diversity survey
• Improve pathways to creative careers by providing mentoring and guidance
• Help produce educational resources, talks and events
• Be mindful of barriers artists may face; whether that's financial, geographical, cultural or access-related
  
• Question culturally inappropriate briefs and approaches from clients
• Encourage the creation of visual work that shows a diverse range of people
• Ensure all artists are paid fairly for their work, no matter their background or how they identify
  
• Keep an open mind to different artistic approaches
• Educate themselves and stay curious
